Schools Seek Defense Grants and Staffing Changes

Hillside Lodge 1591 BPO Elks held the first public installation in its history. New 1962 63 officers were sworn in by Dr. Chester Ralph with help from past exalted rulers. Organizations Win In Light Primaries
In light turnout under 14 percent of registrations, both parties’ organization tickets won. Stamler topped Irene Griffin 536 to 149 for the Republican State Senate nomination. the GOP Freeholder slate and Democratic organization ticket winners claimed wins. Write-in former Mayor Kirkpatrick failed. Desch won the district, with Goldhor replacing Kirkpatrick on the Union County Board of Elections. Democratic gains noted by Mayor Birnbaum. Sanford Goldberg and Josephine Carosia won county and district committee seats. Republicans won one county committee contest with Rosefall Tygart defeating James Duffy.
