Dental Health Instructions Urged In Rural Education
Raleigh. Dr John C Brauer dean of UNC School of Dentistry urged that health basics including dental care be taught in all classrooms at the rural health conference, and that families with low incomes receive dental examinations. He warned that half of three year olds have dental problems and that many children are dental cripples by age six. He called for community and family action, better oral hygiene, exams after age two, nutrition and reduced refined carbohydrates. He noted dental defects were a leading cause of rejection among the first three million registrants examined by local induction boards. About 400 delegates attended the all day event.
