At the Raleigh NC fairgrounds a 315 foot stretch of concession stands was destroyed by fire before dawn. No injuries were reported. The stands, run by eight independent agents near Dorton Arena, will not be rebuilt for the six day fair starting Oct. 11. The blaze caused no immediate damage estimate and the cause was unknown. One operator, Virgil Miller, and his wife escaped from their trailer, losing their trailer, equipment, and money worth about 1500 dollars. Miller, in underwear, said the fire was too hot to hook the trailer to his truck.
