Scotch Foursome Held at Emerywood Club
A Scotch Foursome was played yesterday at Emerywood Country Club followed by a dinner for about 50 members. Prizes went to George Machen and wife for low gross, Matt Wall and John Wall for second, Frank Hunsucker and Jean Hardin for third. Low net went to Bill McGuinn and Caroline Kirkman, with Temple and Davis second, Price and wife third. Low putts were won by George Marsh and spouse, with Sherman and Lynch second, Perry and Slane third. Next event set for Oct 18.

BPW District Meet Hosts Banquet With Eight Clubs

A 430 workshop featured state officers and reports amid plans for Mid-Year Council Spotlight on Women and state convention. Emerywood Baptist Church provided the banquet speaker who spoke on The Art of Effective Living and the need for a life built on God’s words.

LWV Unit Meetings Open Fall Schedule in High Point
The High Point League of Women Voters starts its fall unit meetings this week with a morning session at 10 at Mrs. John Ebel’s Jamestown home and an evening session at 8 in the public library audio-visual room. Morning chair Mrs. Marion Rowland Jr. and evening chair Mrs. William Bagwell lead the groups. A public meeting October 2 at the library will feature Sen. Arthur Kirkman speaking on North Carolina tax structure.
