Skeet Hesmer of North Carolina, a 170 pound tailback from Salem Virginia, earned Southern Conference sophomore of the week honors after starring in the Tar Heels 26 to 6 win over North Carolina State. He set up the first score with a 22 yard pass to Art Weiner and broke the game open with a 63 yard punt return TD aided by Charlie Justice.
