Missing balloon crew sighting sparks coast guard search

A Coast Guard cutter heads toward a North Atlantic area off Newfoundland after a US Air Force plane sighted a yellow object with orange lines and what may be remnants of The Free Life gear. The three balloonists were Rodney Anderson Jamela Brown Anderson and an English engineer. The final radio dispatch said the balloon was at 600 feet and descending into a rainstorm. Twelve planes and three cutters had participated in the search.

California brush fires burn homes in Malibu and valley
