Widow Tells How Two Killers Abducted Husband
Mrs. Benjamin P. Collings described in court how two men boarded the Penguin and abducted her husband off Island Sound on September 9. Her account included her five year old daughter Barbara witnessing the slayers tying her father and a milk bottle being smashed as he was thrown overboard. She testified that she was placed in a canoe and the slayers paddled away toward Oyster Bay as the boat drifted, with her daughter left on the drifting cruiser. The testimony continued under coroner’s adjournment as officials sought to protect her from further distress.
