Dance Row Turns Violent Near VFW Hall in Thomasville

A Saturday night dance near the VFW post on Lexington Avenue erupted in a brawl after 9:30 p.m. Five men were detained near the city limits, one man, Thurman F McCormick, admitted owning a whisky bottle and was arrested for violating prohibition laws on a $50 bond. The incident drew deputies from Davidson County after officers sought help from the sheriff. Police say the dance’s low admission price invites trouble and the event lies outside city jurisdiction.
