Postmaster General Blount launches overnight Express Mail between 33 large cities with a money back guarantee. Downtown offices serve as deposits and pickups with delivery to destination by 10 a.m. next day for items mailed by 5 p.m. the prior day, rate $1.50 up to eight ounces. Blount says 97 percent on time previously.
The House committee backed the tax portion of Nixon's economic plan in a sharp revision that favors individuals and limits business relief. It would cut about 4.9 billion in business breaks over three years and add 3.4 billion in relief for low income taxpayers, with broader impact starting next April.
