Bitburg police said two people were killed near here late today when a U S Air Force gasoline storage tank exploded. Police reported several others were remet. They did not know if any of the dead were Americans.

Tokyo based Asahi reports Japanese scientists believe the Soviet Union tested a hydrogen bomb near Wrangel Island about 500 miles from Alaska. They say evidence is strong and radioactive rain has fallen in northern Japan since the weekend, with Russia using Wrangel Island as a missile base.

Murder trial of widow resumes in Greensboro

The 68 year old widow Mrs Rees testified in her murder trial in Greensboro noting she hired Henry Ware for one year and that their relationship was strictly employer and employee. She claimed she shot Ware after he turned toward a closet where the shotgun was kept and said I shot him in the back. Mrs Rees is president of El Moro Cigar Co., founded by her late husband.

Missouri prison riot ends after four killed injuries and $5 million damage

A major riot at Missouri State Beve me was quelled as four convicts were killed and about 30 prisoners plus three guards injured. State troopers and National Guardsmen deployed to the Jefferson City facility where extensive damage and fires destroyed or damaged eight prison buildings. Authorities said danger of mass outbreak passed and all troubled wings returned to cells.

Fisherman Dies From Bikini Atoll Hydrogen Blast Aftermath

A Japanese fisherman aboard the Lucky Dragon died from injuries after a hydrogen explosion near Bikini Atoll. Twenty three crew members were aboard. others hospitalised but recovering. The United States offered Japan one million dollars in damages to the victims.
