Enterprise Editor Sees Europe After Long Voyage
Holt McPherson, editor of The Enterprise, returned from Europe with impressions on social and economic conditions, noting American democracy and freedom of thought as essential. He observed German recovery amid heavy taxation and fascist discipline, Italy's Mussolini admiration, and France's socialist-communist tension. He travelled over 2,000 miles through England, Scotland, Holland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and France, spoke with refugees from Spain, and warned that peace remains fragile as European unity movements grow.
