Mrs. Mary Jane Kennedy 78 widow of William Kennedy died suddenly at the residence three miles west of High Point on the Thomasville road shortly before noon. Born in Guilford County she belonged to Pleasant Garden Methodist Protestant church for 40 years. Survived by sons Alvin and Charles Kennedy and daughter Malinda Yates. Funeral services to be held at Pleasant Garden church.

Train Wreck Injures 36 In West Virginia
Thirty six passengers were injured, several seriously, when the Charleston to Grafton train on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad derailed near Orlando, West Virginia. The wreck followed sagging rails on a culvert swollen by heavy rains as the locomotive left the track and pulled a baggage smoker and a day coach. Most injuries were bruises and shock.
