High Point Bonds Drive Falls Short of Quota
In High Point the third war loan drive nears its end with only eleven days left. Chairman W B Hall reported a total of 1 995 816 dollars raised, far below the 4 426 250 dollar quota. He warned of complacency among residents and urged every citizen to buy bonds as payrolls near due dates to help meet the city’s share of state and national war funding. The drive, highlighting a harsh comparison to Dunkirk and Salerno, emphasizes continued sacrifice alongside a long war ahead.
