Biologist argues Mars life still possible after Mariner 4
Dr Colin Pittendrigh of Princeton told a Caltech Jet Propulsion Lab conference that Mars may host life despite Mariner 4 images. He urged sending Voyager missions to answer if life exists beyond Earth, saying finding life on Mars would imply life is abundant in the universe and not unique to Earth. He noted Mars atmosphere lacks oxygen and oceans, but cautioned the survey covered only a fraction of the planet.
