Sunday Shutdown Ordered for New England Industries Plant
Officials of New England Industries ordered the Trinity Road plant to halt Sunday operations after residents reported loud noise from lumber pulverizing machines used for coreboard products. Police received about six calls. City Manager T F E Hinson said the plant would stay closed until midnight yesterday. The company, operating since last year, had run Sundays on a partial basis. management described the noise as their hog noise. The city cited an excessive noise ordinance, seeking a settlement without bitterness, though a sustained no-Sunday rule could hinder the firm’s plans due to the uninterrupted efficiency of the equipment.
