The 1949 flue-cured tobacco crop is estimated at 747 million pounds by the Federal State crop forecasting service based on Sept 1 conditions. New Streamlined Pullmans Added By The Southern
The Southern Railway System adds new streamlined all-room Pullman cars to the Crescent route from New Orleans to New York. The $11.5 million order includes six double bedrooms and ten roomettes per car and expands service on four trains. Similar cars already operate on the Atlanta to New York and Atlanta to Wheeling routes.
