Dave Beck tells a federal judge he hopes to convince a jury next spring of his innocence in a tax fraud case seeking 184000 dollars. Also named are Teamsters officials Fred Verscheuren Sr. and Norman J. Gessert. Beck declines to name a potential future Teamsters president. The trial is anticipated in the spring session.
A chemical explosion at the Kobuta plant in Monaca Pennsylvania sparked a two hour blaze.
