Czechoslovakia May Weather Winter With Austerity
American food experts say Czechoslovakia can survive the coming winter with tightened belts and careful food planning. Bohemia is better off than much of eastern Europe as crops run 60 to 70 percent of normal and the country seeks wheat flour and cotton while having a surplus of beet sugar and some oats barley and coal. The spinning industry is idle and experts estimate a need of about one hundred thousand bales of cotton for local textiles.
