Betty Lorraine Trogdon married Tolley Burnette McLaughlin at Giles Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. W A Jarrett officiating. The couple, of Asheboro and Seagrove, plan to reside in Raleigh after a Niagara Falls Canada trip.
Union Hill Parent Teacher Association held a reception and open house in the new school building after an initial meeting. Mrs. Ramona Harris opened the gathering, Rev. Paul Dennis offered a devotion, and Mrs. Willie Johnston led the business session. The attendance prize went to Mrs. Crawford's first grade.
Local Red Cross chairmen outlined summer efforts at the High Point chapter meeting held on Thurston Street.
