C K Stewart from the FBI Winchester Salem office spoke at a DAR chapter meeting led by Madeline Hoover. The session outlined the bureau’s general activities while the group discussed plans for the coming year and refreshments followed for about thirty members.

Miss Judy Wood of Jamestown left Sunday to study at the North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton. Saturday she was honored at a casual weiner roast hosted by the Sweee family and close friends at A ee SeeeeS.
E M Billings honored at a birthday dinner hosted by three daughters at 802 Gurley. About fifty to sixty guests attended including three children, hostesses, fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Noon meal served family style. gifts presented to the celebrant.
The Preston and Rumsey families plan their annual gathering this Sunday at Stokesdale. The reunion coincides with a community event at the local site, inviting relatives to reconnect and share memories.
The Plant And Pluck Garden club held its first fall meeting at Mrs. J. C. Roberts home on Barbee Street. Four new members were welcomed Mesdames Mabrey Nash Dover and Moss with Moss a former member. The club voted to buy calendars as a new year project.
At the September meeting the Junior Service League heard from Mrs. Drake about funding a trained psychiatric worker for High Point’s mental hygiene clinic. A letter announced plans for a Guilford County Arts Association and an eight week speech therapy initiative led by Miss Sarah Coe Hunsucker.
Altrusans discussed inviting the International President to attend the Second District Clubs convention in High Point set for October 19 and 20 at the Sheraton Hotel. The event will be streamlined with registration managed by Mrs. Louise Abernathy Miss Beatrice Crouch and Mrs. Mary Ballard. One new member joined. more prospective members will be added before the opening day.
Mr and Mrs J Swiggett return home after seven weeks touring Colorado Pike s Peak Gorge Cave of the Wind and other sights in California and Louisiana They rodeos visited Long Beach Santa Monica Los Angeles Beverly Hills Santa Anna and New Orleans staying two days on an island in the Mississippi Sound
A luncheon planned for local brides Friday will honor Mrs. Homer T. Hudson and her daughter Mrs. Tote S. Wood who will host hospitality at Mrs. Wood’s home in Sedgefield. Honor guests include Mrs. Frank Hunsucker Jr. and the former Miss Aida Ingram. The party departs at twelve o'clock.
