Senator Hattie Caraway backs father draft view
Washington Sept 11 Senator Hattie Caraway of Arkansas urged Congress not to prohibit father drafting and argued 18 year olds should be sent before allowing fathers to go. She, as a mother with two sons in the armed forces, said she trusts army and navy officials on manpower needs and plans to vote with the military. Senator Wheeler and Senator May planned measures to bar father drafts, with action expected when Congress reconvenes Tuesday.
