Buick announces a new two way lock for 1928 cars located at the steering post and dash. The lock secures both ignition and steering with one key turn and remains effective when the engine is off for coast or parking. The design prevents theft by locking the wheel and ignition together even if the wheel is turned to curb.
A J Dunkerley of Melbourne drove an Oldsmobile touring car 3380 miles from Darwin to Melbourne in seven days 16 hours and 654 minutes through flood damaged roads. The trip smashed the Darwin to Sydney record by 10 hours 25 minutes and ended with a welcome in Melbourne. The journey included fording 92 swollen streams and a 20 foot washout plunge at Dajarra with only minor repairs and no injuries.

Spot cotton closed steady 67 points lower as sales reached 6,003 bales. Prices showed low middling at 20.50, middling 22.50, and good middling 23.25 per hundredweight.
