Cotton Ginners Code Protected Plan to curb 1934 cotton
Washington reports a 1934 crop reduction plan by the farm administration with President Roosevelt approval. The scheme aims for about 25 million acres, 5 million less than this year and 15 million below normal, via rentals and domestic allotments. Morgen thau says farmers with pledged cotton loans must liquidate collateral, and 40 sold bales will trigger long futures buys to back the program, creating a $36 million revolving fund for 12 production credit corporations across districts. Approximately 68 000 bales are involved.
