Hosiery Industry News Tied to Wage Rise and Shifting Styles
The High Point hosiery sector eyes effects from last week’s minimum wage increase to 1.25 an hour, with prices for boxes and cartons likely rising. Industry sources say costs may be absorbed, not passed to consumers, as some mills shift toward seamless women’s hose and durable men’s socks amid softer demand for full fashion styles. A Sept. 11 finance symposium at Star Mount Forest Club will cover growing-business funding options with a panel of bank and investment experts. A new distributor appointment for The Gabriel Co. in Cleveland, tied to Maremont Corp, was announced.
