Lexington Towa nship James Zeno Greer 41 of Route 6 Lexington died in a crash when a wheel came off his lumber truck on Highway 64 east of Lexington in mid afternoon yesterday. Officers said Greer was thrown from the cab and pinned by the axle. he died at the scene.

William R. Hughes, 80, pleaded guilty to second degree murder for the June 19 hammer attack that killed his wife Sarah Jane Hughes, 80. In Asheboro, Judge Frank M. Armstrong sentenced him to 20 to 30 years as Sheriff Wayne W. Wilson and Coroner Hugh Fitzpatrick testified about the grisly injuries.

Eight Year Old Gets Stuck in Home Clothes Chute
At a Detroit home eight year old Albert James Crafton became wedged in a clothes chute. Police were called and rescuers tried pulling free the boy before applying baby oil then tearing out part of a wall to free him. He was rescued unharmed.
