Thomson Knew Secrets of American Patriots
Charles Thomson, secretary of the Continental Congress, witnessed the dawn of independence yet burned his recollections. He earned a reputation for honesty while guiding papers and debates, later seen as obscuring key history when his private notes were destroyed. Thomson’s life spanned from 1729 Ireland to Philadelphia, shaping liberty and the early U.S. statecraft.

Wheat Farmer Owns Atlas Missile Site in Egypt Washington
Ed McCaffery, a wheat farmer, owns one of nine Atlas missile bases built in eastern Washington in the 1960s and abandoned soon after. The site, cost between 13 and 20 million to build, sits on 22 acres bought in 1967 for under 5700 dollars. He plans to turn it into a casino while cows graze nearby and the underground complex lies idle with remnants of launch equipment and living quarters.
