Raleigh police say six charges were brought against 16 year old Charles Stephenson in the death of state highway patrolman Richard Warren Jackson who died when his patrol car struck a pole during a chase from Newport to Morehead City. On a Shallotte bridge in Brunswick County early today a northbound Marine car collided with a truck carrying 24 Negro picnickers. Two Marines died Austin L Love and Gerald J Grenalt Jr and 11 others were injured. The Shallotte driver Joe Gause and other Marines were among the injured. The group was returning from a Labor Day outing.
