Farm Board halts sales of wheat and cotton
The Farm Board and related bodies halt sales of wheat and cotton through the next year amid a 50 million dollar reconstruction loan to stabilizing agencies. Stone, chairman, said moves protect growers as markets adjust and liquidation will occur when demand rises. Wheat stocks under 3 million bushels will not be sold before 1933 except shipments to foreign buyers. cotton holdings about 2 million bales will not be sold before July 31 1933 except for foreign consignments or favorable 12 cent near-month prices. The stabilization corporation will also delay sales until March 1 1933 with similar exceptions, holding 1.3 million bales on July 1 with relief and marketing allocations.
