In Birmingham Alabama two Negro brothers and four Negro men entered elementary schools with white children amid brief disorders. Swissair Caravelle Disaster Kills 80 Near Zurich

A Swiss twin jet airliner exploded after takeoff from Zurich and crashed near Duerrenaesch killing all 80 aboard. Debris spread over eight miles. victims include 74 passengers and six crew. The crash near two lakes west of Zurich followed a flight to Geneva and Rome. Rescue efforts and passenger lists were underway as authorities investigated the cause.
