Administration Plans Processing Tax Bill For Next Legislature
Agriculture Department officials said the administration may place processing taxes near the top of its legislative program to boost farm income. The move hinges on farmer and congressional support, with price fixing proposals gaining traction as farm prices fall and 1938 income is seen well below 1937. The plan would set prices for major farm products to cover cost of production and include a profit margin, substantially raising prices.
