Postwar Europe travel tips for England France Belgium and Holland

Mr. Singer outlines postwar travel conditions in four nations. England offers cheap meals due to price controls with limited proteins but modest hotel rates and good highways. France is pricier with high prewar travel costs, rationed gasoline, and strong tourist services. Belgium appeals for battle sites, but Brussels and major cities are expensive with excellent roads. Holland maintains rationing on food and clothing while offering generous hotel and restaurant portions with no gas limits. Car travel by Americans is feasible with old model rental cars. transporting a car costs about $600 now, with potential rate reductions as freight competition increases.
