American Theater Opens with Large Crowd and New Policy
The American theater formerly the Municipal opened last night under new management with motion pictures road shows and variety acts for a public trust audience. T J Gold outlined a policy of clean healthful entertainment with the program changing every two days along with musical features and a nightly eight piece orchestra conducted by Arthur G. Austin. Marion Davies star in Yolanda played on screen with Grady Miller of California Four providing live entertainment and songs.

Guardsmen Return From Fort Monroe Camp
Eighty five High Point nationally trained guardsmen returned home from Fort Monroe where they trained 15 days since August 16 under Captain M. G. Alderman and officers J. W. Fambrough and J. L. Raper. They practiced infantry and artillery drills, hit the target three times out of five, and expect annual summer camps at Fort Monroe. The unit, mobilized April 7, formed five months ago as the first High Point guardsman company since the war.
