Gen Paul D Harkins stated in Saigon that at least 1000 of the 15000 American troops in Viet Nam will be withdrawn within two months as part of a White House plan. He said victory in this war is near and noted ongoing sporadic fighting.

Integration Leaders Seek Freedom in Federal Court

In Americus Georgia five young integration leaders seek injunctions in a federal courtroom to halt prosecution and interference with integration activities. Attorneys claim officials conspired to injure oppress threaten and intimidate citizens. Four youths remain jailed without bail on incitement charges under the 1871 insurrection law, a rare move in integration disputes. Donald Harris, 24, of New York, is among those jailed. no court action until state officials submit a reply.

Disappear in Snowstorms Two Found Four Missing In Wilderness

In Maine, two hunted and two men and women were missing after fierce snowstorms on Mt Katahdin and surrounding areas. Searchers, aided by helicopters, pressed through deep snow as weather hampered ground efforts and broadened the hunt.

$3000 Reward Offered For Rescue Of Americans

South Viet Nam Brig. Gen. Huynh Van Coa posted a 3000 dollar reward for any unit in his command that could rescue three U S Army men believed captured by Viet Cong. The Americans two officers and a medical sergeant were with a Viet Namese unit nearly wiped out in a battle 140 miles southwest of Saigon. Government losses listed as 16 dead 32 wounded and M4 missing including the Americans. Deep air search and ground patrols probed canals fields and swamps but contact was not made.
