Senate Keeps Drivers Break In Energy Tax Debate
The Senate by 47 to 30 vote preserves a tax break for millions of drivers while seeking to negotiate Carter energy taxes. It rejected a move to oppose the crude oil tax as part of final bill work. The chamber also blocked repeal of state and local gasoline tax deductions and approved a heating oil tax credit proposal up to 150 dollars yearly for low income families.
