Adams-Millis Expands Kernersville Plant

Adams-Millis plans a $3 million expansion in Kernersville adding a 320000 square foot hosiery finishing and distribution facility. The fully air conditioned plant will have paved parking and modern handling equipment to boost service and capacity with electronic data processing to be installed in February 1965. Through the first nine months of 1964 sales reached $14.1 million with pretax earnings of $1.31 million and net earnings of $637,140, up from 1963.

U S officials say the Washington Moscow hot line has never been used for substantial exchanges. Opened August 31 1963 it was agreed to be used only for direct secret messages between leaders to avoid actions that could risk nuclear war. The line was established after the Cuban missile crisis.

Berliners Cross Into Red Sector

Berliners streamed into the Soviet zone as East Germany opened the Berlin wall for a second time in three years. 6000 West Berliners crossed at Oberbaumbruecke as guards raised barriers, many carrying shopping bags for scarce East goods. The wall stayed open until Nov 12 for one day passes.

Bradley a survivor of the DC 3 crash near Bucks Elbow Mountain five years ago recalls the ordeal.
