About 40 representatives gathered for a two day session to launch the federal rural housing program in the area. County offices will start accepting loan applications within a week or two and Congress authorized up to 275 million dollars for four years. About 25 million is available this year for construction and repair of farm houses and buildings with 2 million for minor improvements. Washington officials join state directors from the Carolinas Virginia and West Virginia for the conference.
