Report from Berlin and Warsaw says mass expulsions of Polish Jews were halted as negotiations began to resolve the status of Polish citizens in Germany. Berlin and Warsaw announced simultaneous measures and the misinterpretation of a new citizenship rule led to thousands being moved to the frontier.
The Rev. John B. Murphy of St Egebert's Catholic Morehead City died after his car skidded on a wet Seenville road and overturned. He was alone in the vehicle and died today with details from witness accounts.

JERSEY CITY N J October 29 A veteran political opponent of Mayor Frank Hague cancelled a planned public speech and paraded with a gag and sandwich board. James F Burkitt released from jail a week ago was protected by 20 policemen as a hostile crowd gathered in a busy downtown street.
A three month old girl died from burns after allegedly snatched from a coal heater firebox by her mother Mrs. T. EB. Turner. Police say landlady Lucille M. Adams placed the infant in the firebox and later claimed she was sending her son to join his father.
At Marseille the Radical Socialists closed their national convention urging the United States to help bolster the Munich peace through a world economic conference. They called for broader negotiation among Britain Germany France and Italy and endorsed Roosevelt's peace appeals as a basis for a permanent organization.
Railroads may receive about 1.0 billion dollars in federal loans as part of a 5 billion dollar national defense program. Terms include nonreorganization and nonpriority of government claims, with low interest and repayment out of income as profits rise.
