Murchison Sees Improvement In Cotton Textile Industry
New York Oct 25 AP President Claudius T Murchison of the Cotton Textile Institute says there is decided improvement in the cotton textile trade but cautions against sharp price advances. He urges production limits and avoiding long term contracts to prevent speculative pricing. He warns a postwar subsidy could flood markets with cheaper goods and calls for tariff increases to offset subsidies. Frank H Hillery, Textile Export Association president, says exports may hit 564 million square yards this year, up 250 million from last year, aiding the sector but potentially needing more imports from foreign markets.
