Three rural housewives were shot to death near Lincolnton North Carolina and a daughter was wounded. A police posse combed Northbrook woods and cornfields seeking Roy Cook a 30 year old farm worker seen with a shotgun. Victims included Roy Cooks wife 22 and sister in law Mrs Webb Cook 21 plus Mrs George Smith and her 16 year old daughter Marjorie who was shot in the face and head but listed as not in shock and expected to recover. The killings occurred at the Webb Cook home as residents barred doors and Roy Cooks wife and Webb Cook are siblings. Investigators noted the killings happened about 9 am and no motive is known.
