Mrs C F Tomlinson spoke on Tropical Adventure detailing her Balboa visit. The Canterbury club met Friday at 3:30 at Mrs R V Hayworth’s Jamestown home with Russian tea, business reports by Mrs Owen Reese, and book exchanges.
Members of the High Point Woman’s Club and the High Point AAUW hosted a Friday tea at the high school gym to honor elementary and art teachers for the 26th Northwestern District meeting of the North Carolina Education Association. Over five hundred attended, with a tea table centerpiece of red roses and white chrysanthemums and red candles.
The Private Duty Nurses section of the High Point Graduate Nurses club will meet Thursday at 7:30 PM in the nurses classroom on Howell street. Mrs Myrtle Myers polio chairman of Greensboro will be guest speaker and all local nurses are invited to attend.
The Exchangette club holds a regular meeting Monday at 8 p.m. at Mrs. James Blackwell's home 600 Gatewood Avenue. A program on Flower Arrangement will be featured. Members should bring clothing for the rummage sale Saturday.
Dorothy Elizabeth Smith and Don Wesley Smith wed at the home of Rev. Edward Suits on Saturday afternoon October 9 at 2 o'clock. The bride, a High Point Dianne Shoppe worker, wore a navy suit with accessories. she is the daughter of Roy H. Vestal of route 5. The groom, son of Norman Smith of Lexington, attended Lexington High School, served 2 1/2 years in the navy, and is now in the United States Army at Fort Bragg.
Miss Patsy Horton will marry Keene Giles Kennedy Jr. in early November. Miss Betty Shields and Miss Joyce Herndon hosted an informal tea at Greensboro College on Thursday at 4 o clock in the Lucy H Robertson parlor. The honoree received silver salt and pepper shakers. The table featured a lace cloth, mixed flower centerpiece, and a punch bowl. Guests included classmates and close friends.
The Theta Phi sorority at High Point college completed rush week with pledges initiated Thursday afternoon. Activities included a spaghetti supper, a formal dinner at Bliss restaurant, a theater party, a pyjama party, and group breakfasts. New members are Jane Matthews Lawrenceville VA Gloria Thomas Hamlet Doris Nance Ruby Workman High Point and Bette Rader Cranford NJ. Old members Ovida Lineberger Jean Sexton Doris Pickler Gloria Foust.
