Food Price Trends Mixed as Controls Lift
Local market checks show no immediate price rise after price control removal. NC Food Dealers association president Clyde Ayers says shelves show no jump, with possible small increases in a few weeks as new shipments arrive. Five restaurant managers expect gradual rises but plan to absorb nonexorbitant increases to preserve goodwill. Meat remains higher than pre control levels, yet poultry fish and seafood prices stay lower.
