Morrison Plots State Run Steamship Lines To Coast Cities

Governor Morrison announced to the Associated Press that he will present to the next General Assembly a concrete plan to own and operate steamship lines from eastern North Carolina ports to northern markets. He said the state would be the principal stockholder, tear down high freight rates, and build half a dozen coastal cities, with data to be supplied by the corporation commission.
