The Emerywood Country Club hosts a monthly dinner dance Saturday from 8 pm served, dancing 9 pm to 1 am. Sunday noon meals are skipped. Thursday is family night, Tuesday 10 am hosts a ladies party. Friday evening bridge results list Mrs. O C Durland and Mrs. Robert Hubbard as north south winners.
Thelma Walker of this city and E. G. Kettles of Charlotte marry this afternoon at 5 o clock at the VFW home on Broad Street. Local VFW post and auxiliary members are invited. Mrs Walker has long been active in the local auxiliary. Mr Kettles is the past post state department commander.
Miss Geraldine Joyce Leonard and Leslie Atlee Hedrick married September 28 in York South Carolina with Judge E Gettys Nunn officiating. The bride daughter of E C Leonard and 510 West Broad street attended local schools. The groom son of Essie Mae Ward of Thomasville, educated at Pilot high school, served two years in the armed forces overseas. They reside on Route 2 Thomasville.
Mrs. Chester A. Marsh of Winston-Salem will lecture on arts and crafts to High Point Girl Scout workers Friday morning September 20. The 10 to 12 o clock talk at the Adams Memorial YWCA caps a fall two hour session series led by Scout officials from High Point and Greensboro with national and local roles highlighted.
Yehudi Menuhin, to perform at eight tonight, is hailed as a living master of the violin whose career has shaped present music. The virtuoso has repeatedly broken with tradition, featuring Bach works and major concertos, and honored by a Paris concert after France’s liberation.
Miss Hazel Deaver of Mooresboro and Sergeant Dante Anthony Caldara of Lincoln Park N J were married October 16 at St Benedicts Catholic church in Greensboro. The ceremony featured lime gabardine dress and yellow rose corsage. The couple plan to live in Greensboro. Caldara will re enlist soon. A portable charcoal broiler with rubber tires for camping was also advertised.
In Hickory at Christ Lutheran church Emma Kate Yount married Broadus B. Collins Jr. He is a Hickory resident, formerly of Thomasville, and a three year Army Air Corps veteran. Attended by sister Betty Jo Yount, with Raymond Collins as best man and brothers as ushers. Out of town guests included J Richard Jones and sister Mrs. Jones of High Point. The couple will reside in Hickory.

They reside in Washington D C after a wedding trip through Virginia mountains. Both former High Point residents. Cheves is in business in Washington.
The Woman's Guild of High Point Memorial hospital will meet Wednesday at 4 30 PM at the YWCA building. Mrs W C Idol, president, will preside over the regular session.
The Piedmont Women's Golf Association schedules a semi monthly event at Emerywood Country Club on Wednesday morning with tee offs from 9 to 1. A luncheon in the clubhouse will follow. Reservations are due with Mrs. Elliott Wood by Tuesday noon.
