Washington, Oct. 20. President Roosevelt said the government must improve and coordinate credit and related machinery to achieve and maintain prosperous stability, free from booms and depressions. In Goldsboro North Carolina on October 20 17 year old prisoner Leslie Lane was struck by a prison truck while attempting to step from it. Sheriff Robert Hooks ruled the death accidental with no foul play suspected.
Federal and airline officials opened three separate investigations into the United Airlines crash that killed 19. Bodies were identified at Evanston Wyoming as searchers recovered wreckage and mail from the mountain site eighty miles east of Salt Lake City. Relatives arrived to claim victims while postal inspectors combed through snow and debris for the missing luggage and remains.
