Drenched western parts of the state will dry out with no rain expected for a few days. The High Point area forecasts mostly sunny this afternoon, then variably cloudy tonight and Tuesday. Highs reach upper 60s to low 70s today, low 50s tonight, Tuesday highs in the low to mid 70s, with 10 percent rain today and tonight rising to 20 percent on Tuesday.
Forecast calls for variable to considerable cloudiness across the Carolinas with inland sunshine this morning and warmer conditions Tuesday. Highs reach upper 60s to mid 70s in North Carolina mountains and lower 70s elsewhere, with lows in the 50s to 60s. South Carolina sees considerable cloudiness with seasonable 70s through Tuesday and coastal cautions.
Istvan Gaal a 21 year old Hungarian soccer player is traded from the Concordia Kickers to Toronto Hungaria in the National Canadian Soccer League. The Kickers receive a soccer ball in return with no air pump listed as a future consideration.
In Elizabethtown North Carolina a young father Robert Bennett McQueen 27 and his 6-year-old son Robert Jr died after drinking what they thought was a soft drink at his mother’s home. An autopsy will determine the cause as investigators suspect a cleaning fluid was in a quart bottle with a removable cap found in the refrigerator. Funeral services were set for Trinity Methodist Church.
Clayton AP report says 8 year old Daryl Dwayne Gupton died after a tackle in a neighborhood sandlot football game. Police said he was dead on arrival at Johnston County Hospital despite rescue attempts.
The Department of Agriculture forecasts North Carolina corn at 64 bushels per acre totaling 95 million bushels. Soybeans are expected to average 26 bushels per acre for 24 million bushels, and peanuts at 2450 pounds per acre totaling 409 million pounds.
Beverly Bevo Howard a Charleston born stunt pilot with a long traveling show died after a single engine biplane struck a tree and crashed near Greenville airport. FAA opened an investigation. the area was roped off as officials assess cause. Howard who flew upside down earlier in the performance began flying at 15 and later served as an Eastern Airlines pilot and WWII and Korean War instructor.
