Stock Market Mixed After Losses Erased In Early Trading
The Dow slipped 0.57 to 702.58 at noon as traders saw a mixed market with gains in autos and steels offset by declines in blue chips. Ford rallied after a strong recovery while GM and Studebaker edged up, Chrysler and American Motors stable, and overall trading modest in quiet sessions. Cincinnati, nicknamed Porkopolis in Civil War era lore, closed the note.
