Uranium Ore Mined in Texas Near Burnet
The Austin Statesman reports premium grade uranium ore is mined and shipped from a central Texas site near Burnet, 80 miles northwest of Austin. Steve Steinhauser of the AEC notes samples show pitchblende but quantity is unknown. An analyst estimates at least 750 tons of ore may be available, with some samples testing up to 2 percent uranium.
