Martha Mitchell, undergoing chemotherapy for a bone marrow disease, has been released from two Northern Virginia hospitals. Her physician, Dr. Thomas E. O'Brien, would not comment on current condition. O'Brien described the illness as a malignant plasma cell disease, not cancer in the strict sense, and suggested life expectancy depends on time of recognition.
