Nature Study Club Holds Bulb Program and Plans
Mrs. Wiley Beasley presided at the Nature Study Garden Club meeting at Mrs. Dale Montgomery’s home. Plans for tree week were reported and a district meeting set for November 4 with the November 11 event hosted by Mrs. E. T. Ring. Mrs. Broadus Casey discussed growing bulbs in the Piedmont region and noted bulbs are dormancy buds needing temperature and humidity, with leaves left to feed next year’s blooms. A recently blinded patient at John B. Umstead Hospital presented the topic “Birds and Botanical Specimens on Smith Island.”
