Memorial hour at First Methodist Church marks the opening of the North Carolina United Daughters of the Confederacy convention in High Point. Registration began at 9 in the Sheraton Hotel with about 200 expected attendees. Edna Fowler of Los Angeles is guest of honor at a 6 o'clock banquet.

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 9899 Archdale met at the post home on 5 Main Street Extension with President Mrs. Sue Parrish presiding. They voted to send permanent and costume jewelry to Caswell Training School. Mrs. Mamie Crofts outlined plans to help needy families in Archdale Trinity and Allen Jay at Christmas. Membership chair Mrs. Arlene Richardson discussed a November 15 membership party. Mrs. Mary Brown wore the door prize. hostesses were Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Crotts.

Dr Wood to Attend Surgical Club Session in Princeton
Dr George T Wood leaves tomorrow for Princeton New Jersey to attend a two day session of the E Surgical Club formed by surgeons who served with the Fifth Army in the Mediterranean during World War II He will then travel to Atlantic City for sessions of the American College of Surgeons where he is president elect of the North Carolina chapter Parkway follows a three week vacation to the New England States. Memorial Hospital notes say she will remain several days and may receive visitors.
